Howard Beach is mostly mobile territory for us. The neighborhood has driveways, which makes an on-site install straightforward, and it sits far enough along the Belt Parkway that asking someone to drive a cracked windshield to Brooklyn is not much of a favor. So the van goes out, the work happens where the car is parked, and nobody loses a morning.
The customers themselves usually come through the same chain of recommendation that brings us everyone else. Somebody has family in Brooklyn who used us, or a neighbor's car got done in the driveway and the neighbor across the street watched the whole thing and asked for the number. That is the entire referral engine, and it works because the driveway job is done to the same standard as the shop job: correct glass for the vehicle, fresh urethane, full cure time honored, everything vacuumed before we leave. The van leaves stocked for your exact vehicle, not for something close to it, which is why these jobs finish in one visit rather than two.
Howard Beach sits between Jamaica Bay and the airport, with Cross Bay Boulevard running through the middle of it as the main artery, carrying traffic down toward Broad Channel and the Rockaways. The Belt Parkway crosses the northern edge with ramps that make the neighborhood easy to reach and easy to leave. Rockaway Boulevard runs along the top toward the airport, and the A train has its Howard Beach station on the eastern side. The residential streets are largely one and two-family houses with driveways and garages, and several of the blocks back onto canals and lagoons off the bay. That combination of off-street parking and open sky makes it one of the more workable places we visit for on-site glass work. Wind off the bay is the only regular complication out here.

Two things stand out here. The first is the Belt Parkway, immediately at hand and permanently under repair in one stretch or another, throwing loose stone at every windshield behind a truck. The second is the water. Howard Beach is low-lying and surrounded by it, so salt in the air works on wiper hardware and pits glass over the years, and storm surge is a real hazard on the blocks nearest the canals. A car that has been through flood water often develops leaks around the glass seals afterward, and a corroded pinch weld under a windshield is the sort of thing that has to be cleaned and primed properly during a replacement or the new glass leaks too. We check that channel every time on a car from this side of the bay.
Take the Belt Parkway westbound from the ramps near Cross Bay Boulevard, run it around the bay past Canarsie and Sheepshead Bay, and come off at Bay Parkway. From there it is up Bay Parkway past Kings Highway and 60th Street, then onto 47th Street, where we sit at 1936 between 19th and 20th Avenue. Reckon on thirty to forty minutes depending on how the Belt is running. Most Howard Beach customers skip the drive entirely and have us come to them, which for a driveway job here is usually the same price as coming in. Ask about it when you call and we will pick a slot.

If a particular address or vehicle makes the trip unusually long, we will tell you about any travel charge when we quote, not afterwards. In most cases yes. A driveway gives us the room to cut out the old glass and set the new one properly, which is really all an install needs. The exceptions are heavy rain or a hard freeze, since urethane will not cure to strength in either, and vehicles that require static camera recalibration with shop equipment. We flag both before heading out.
First we find out where the water is actually entering, because a leak that looks like a windshield problem is sometimes a cowl drain or a body seam. If the bond has failed, we replace the glass and clean and prime the pinch weld so corrosion does not undermine the new seal. If it is not the glass, we will say so instead of selling you a windshield.
