Most East New York work reaches us one of two ways: a relative in Brooklyn who has used the shop before, or someone whose car got hit overnight and who wants the glass in today rather than on Thursday. Break-in glass is the bulk of it, and the part people underrate is the cleanup. Tempered glass goes everywhere, down inside the door skin, into the seat rails, under the carpet, and if it is left there it jams the window regulator weeks later and turns a fixed car back into a broken one. Atlantic Avenue and Fulton Street run east to west with the elevated J and Z line overhead along part of that stretch, and Broadway Junction sits at the northern end as a major transfer point. Pitkin Avenue and Linden Boulevard carry local traffic and buses, and New Lots Avenue runs through the southern half where the 3 train ends. Pennsylvania Avenue and Van Sinderen Avenue take truck traffic down toward the Belt Parkway and the Spring Creek side. Between the corridors, the streets range from rows of two-family houses with small driveways to blocks with almost no off-street parking at all, and a fair share of the neighborhood's cars live at the curb overnight. Off-street space is scarce enough that curb parking is the default on much of the eastern side.

Truck routes and rough pavement do the mechanical damage. Atlantic Avenue, Linden Boulevard and Pennsylvania Avenue all carry heavy commercial traffic, the surface takes a beating, and a windshield with an existing chip rarely survives a season of that intact. The elevated structure over Fulton Street sheds grit onto the roadway underneath the way any old el does. The other half is theft and vandalism, and it is not evenly spread: cars parked on the quieter side streets overnight are the ones that lose a passenger window. Winter compounds everything, because a driver who scrapes ice off a chipped windshield or aims the defroster straight at cold glass will turn a repairable chip into a full replacement in one morning.
Take Linden Boulevard or Pennsylvania Avenue down to the Belt Parkway and head west, following the shoreline past Canarsie and Sheepshead Bay, then exit at Bay Parkway and run up to 47th Street, where we are between 19th and 20th Avenue. Allow half an hour outside rush hour and considerably more when the Belt is congested. For most East New York customers the mobile van makes more sense than the drive, especially for a broken side window, so tell us the address and the cross streets and we will bring the glass to the car.
