Queens work comes to us mostly through people who moved out of Brooklyn but kept the shop. Because Queens is enormous, the honest answer depends on where you are. The western and southern edges, the neighborhoods nearest the Brooklyn border and the ones strung along the Belt Parkway, are straightforward for us. Further out toward the eastern county line the trip gets long enough that we will talk it through rather than promise a morning slot. Either way you will hear a real answer on the phone, not a booking taken first and a problem explained later. We would rather turn down a job than take one we cannot do well. Ask, and you will get a yes or a no the same day.
Queens is a borough of long corridors rather than a single center. Queens Boulevard runs through the middle of it, the Long Island Expressway crosses east to west, and the Belt Parkway curls around the southern shore past the airport. Woodhaven Boulevard, Cross Bay Boulevard and Rockaway Boulevard carry traffic down toward the bay, while the Jackie Robinson Parkway threads through the cemetery belt toward the Brooklyn line. Elevated subway lines run above Roosevelt Avenue, Jamaica Avenue and Liberty Avenue, and the neighborhoods underneath them behave like the ones under Brooklyn's els. Parking varies enormously, from tight attached-house blocks in Ridgewood to driveways and garages further east, which changes what mobile service can do at any given address. Two addresses ten minutes apart can call for completely different arrangements, which is why we ask rather than assume.

Queens drivers put more highway miles on a windshield than most of Brooklyn does, and highway miles are where chips come from. The LIE, the Belt Parkway and the Van Wyck are all resurfaced somewhere along their length year-round, and construction zones with loose aggregate are exactly where a truck ahead of you flings a stone. Airport traffic on the southern side adds a constant flow of heavy vehicles. Under the elevated lines, grit works loose from the structures and settles on whatever is below. And the same winter routine that ruins glass everywhere applies here: a chip picked up in November, ignored, then finished off by a hard freeze and a hot defroster in January. By then it is glass, not resin.
If you are driving in, the practical routes are the Belt Parkway westbound to the Bay Parkway exit, then up Bay Parkway to 47th Street, or the Jackie Robinson Parkway across to Brooklyn and down through the neighborhoods.
