Side and rear tempered glass runs $200 to $450 fitted for most vehicles and is generally same-day work. We clear the fragments from the door cavity, seats and carpet, install glass matched to your exact vehicle, and reconnect and test the rear defroster grid and antenna before the car leaves.

Rear windshields are the pane Midwood breaks most. Part of that is trees, since a limb landing on the back of a parked car goes through tempered glass without difficulty. Part of it is reversing: driveways here are often narrow, walled and shared with a hedge, and a rear window meets a gatepost more often than anyone admits. Whatever caused it, tempered glass does not crack politely. It converts itself into several thousand small cubes distributed across the parcel shelf, the rear seats, the footwells and the trunk.
Clearing that out properly is most of the job. Then we fit the correct pane, which for rear glass almost always means matching the defroster grid and frequently an antenna element bonded into the pane. Both get reconnected and tested rather than assumed. Where the damage is a door window instead, the same principle applies inside the door: cavity emptied, track cleared, regulator checked, then the new pane fitted and run through its full travel several times to make sure nothing binds. Nothing goes back together until the mechanism is clear, because a regulator with glass in it will fail again in a month and neither of us wants that phone call.
“Shalom Auto Glass is absolutely the real deal. Everyone there was so nice, friendly, and easy to work with from start to finish. The pricing was very fair, they were completely honest, and they didn’t try to add on a single unnecessary…”

A rear windshield in Midwood is worth treating as urgent for a reason that has nothing to do with security. Most cars here park outside under trees, and a car with no back glass takes leaves, rain and everything else straight into the trunk and the rear seats. Wet carpet in a trunk goes bad quickly and takes the spare wheel well with it. So we prioritise these, and if the pane has to be ordered we will cover the opening properly before you drive away. It is also worth knowing that the defroster grid is not decorative in this neighborhood: mornings under heavy tree cover are damp and slow to clear, and a rear window without working heating lines is a genuinely annoying car to own from November onwards.
Same service, same price, other Brooklyn neighborhoods:
A surprising amount, and it works its way into the spare wheel well and under the trunk liner where you will not see it. We lift the liner and vacuum underneath as part of the job. Left in place, those cubes rattle for years and turn up on your hands the next time you go looking for the jack.
Briefly and carefully, but it is not a solution. Sheeting flaps at speed, blocks your mirror view entirely, and comes loose in exactly the weather you most need it. If we cannot fit your glass the same day we will seal the opening properly before you leave, which holds far better than anything improvised at home.
Tell us the vehicle and the glass that's damaged — you'll see your price instantly, and we'll hold it for you.
