Side and rear glass runs $200 to $450 for most vehicles and is usually a same-day job once the part is here. We clear the shards out of the door cavity, seats and carpet, fit tempered glass matched to your car, and test the window and the rear defroster before the keys go back.

Side and rear windows behave nothing like a windshield. They are tempered rather than laminated, so instead of cracking and staying put they let go all at once into a pile of small cubes. In Borough Park the usual causes are close-quarters ones: a shared driveway pillar, a delivery cart rolling downhill on a sloped block, a stray ball from the schoolyard, or a break-in on a quiet stretch of the 40s overnight.
So the job is really two jobs. First the old glass has to come out of everywhere it went, which means the door cavity, the seat rails, the carpet and the seat-belt channel. Then the new pane goes in, matched to your exact vehicle so the curve, the tint band and any features are right. On rear glass that includes the defroster grid and, on a lot of cars, the antenna, both of which we reconnect and test. Finally we run the window up and down several times to confirm the regulator and track are clear and moving freely. Only then is the car finished. Skipping any of that is how a customer ends up back a month later with a window that will not close, and we would rather do it once.
“Shalom Auto Glass is absolutely the real deal. Everyone there was so nice, friendly, and easy to work with from start to finish. The pricing was very fair, they were completely honest, and they didn’t try to add on a single unnecessary…”

The Borough Park-specific problem is where the car has to sit while this happens. Very few houses here have a driveway they can spare for an afternoon, and leaving a car with a missing window on a numbered street overnight is not an option anyone likes. That is why we push these jobs to the front of the day when we can, and why the van gets used for them so often: if your car is already parked somewhere it is not blocking anybody, it is frequently easier for us to come to it than for you to find a legal space twice. Either way the priority is closing the car up the same day. A taped-up bin liner over a door window works for about one rainstorm, and this neighborhood does not have anywhere convenient to leave a car open while it waits.
Same service, same price, other Brooklyn neighborhoods:
More than people expect. Tempered glass breaks into hundreds of small cubes and most of them fall straight down inside the door skin, into the track and around the regulator. Left there, they jam the mechanism weeks later. We empty the cavity and vacuum the cabin as part of the job, which is why it takes longer than simply dropping in a new pane.
Please leave it. The visible pieces on the seat are the easy part, and going after them by hand is a good way to get cut. The fragments that actually matter are in places a broom or a home vacuum will not reach. Bring the car as it is and we will deal with all of it properly in one go.
